Annual Central Coast Festival of the Arts

The annual Central Coast Festival of the Arts was on again.
This function of the official opening of the Photographic Exhibition and Central Coast Festival of the Arts was held on Friday the 14th March 2008. It was organised by the Toukley Rotary Club.
Our Non Trade Commercial Cookery class of 2008 and students studying a front of house course, as well as Diploma of Hospitality Management students had the opportunity to cater for 2 functions on the night. The first was being held at the Wyong Shire Council chambers for 200 dignitaries and sponsors of the festival. And the second at the Wyong Memorial Hallwhere they catered for a further 700 patrons. A very successful night once again and a further "real world" experience for our full time students. Supervision by: Robyn Brewster,Judith Taunton, Kathy Clouten and Robert Brown.
Congratulations for all the hard work and dedication from the students and teachers.
The students were congratulated and awarded Certificates of Appreciation by a representative from Wyong Shire Council on Thursday, 20th March 2008.

Ourimbah Campus Hosts Visiting Japanese Students

Nutrition & Dietetic and English language students from Hakurika Gakuin College, Japan visited the Hunter Institue's Ourimbah campus for two weeks.
The students undertook a variety of courses in Child Studies, Welfare and Nutrition & Dietetics.
Robyn Brewster, our resident expert conducted a work shop, addressing the dietary guidelines for Australia and especially the nutrient needs targeting the elderly.

A hands-on work shop incorporated dishes and recipes according to the five food groups. A chicken club sandwich was prepared, whilst implementing Food Safety Standards Code.
